Raising Support for the

Hasz Family

Dear friends of the Hasz family,
This website was created to help raise financial support and encouragement for the beloved David Hasz who lost his wife to cancer on August 8th, 2016. They, who have been so generous and giving to so many of us throughout the years could now use our support. I am hoping that through the financial donations and encouragement, the Hasz family can find solace, relief, and comfort through this time of need.

Donate

The passing of Beth Hasz

It has been said that, “success is when those that know you best, respect you the most.” I feel like that the Hasz family is one of those families that has achieved this success. The more I have come to know them, the more I love, admire and respect them.

The Hasz family is one of those families that if you have been privileged enough to know them they have impacted your life. They have helped you become a better person, ministered to you, encouraged you and they’ve inspired you. And they’ve blessed your life in some way.

Now is an opportunity to give back to a family that has given so much, They have not solicited any help or asked for any donations or encouragement, but now the Hasz family is going through a difficult time with Beth Hasz passing away to be with Jesus. The last thing that they need at this time is be thinking about all of the bills piling up and all of the stress that comes with that. They’ve spent their life encouraging others, giving, serving and I think now is a good time when we give back.

If you do have the means to donate, a generous donation would be welcomed and appreciated. It’s my goal that through this page, we would raise enough support, so that amongst all of the other struggles the Hasz family is facing, they wouldn’t have the added pressure of the financial implications of the battle with cancer. So friends of the Hasz family, alumni community, I ask you at this time to lift up the Hasz family in prayer, to write an encouraging note and if possible make a donation.

They’ve been such a blessing in my life and so many lives throughout the years. It is with sincere gratitude and with a compelled heart that I’ve put this website together as a hopes of showing our love and appreciation to this beautiful family.

If you need further information, please contact Kenneth Freire or myself. Thank you very much.

Sincerely,
Randy Olsson

    Hi Dave and Beth,

It’s amazing how much someone you hardly even know can have such an impact on your life. I have only met you Dave one time, but I feel like I know you and your family. I am part of Gathering Place Church, worked there for over 20 years and I cannot begin to tell you how many times I have heard you and your family’s names mentioned. You all have touched so many lives – so many more than you even realize. Thanks so much for ministering to my church family and conversely to me – our Pastor Garrett is a result of you and so many others who have sown into young adults lives! You will continue to be in our prayers (and my Momma is a praying woman – she will be on it! )

I remember babysitting for the Hasz kids when David and Beth would go out for a date night or evening meeting on TM Campus… I can remember the love and joy shared in the marital relationship between these two. Beth- your smile lights up a room, and warms hearts for God’s presence to work in the lives of many. You are an example of love to all who have ever encountered sharing time and space with you. Prayers for you and your family- may peace carry you all, and comfort be near through the presence of the Father.

  • Jachin says:

Thanks for setting this up, Randy. Hasz family, God bless you guys. Praying for you.

  • Mike Brister says:

First of all , know Hasz family that your impact in our lives has been greater than you think. Beth, I got to go with you guys to Panama back in 99 and I watched you and Dave lead us so gently. I had never met anyone so kind and gentle as you Beth. Dave, I never saw someone lead in True Integrity before. It stuck to me like glue. You both need to know I never forget that. I decided at that point that when I have a family of my own i wanted to emulate you guys. Today i have a beautiful family, a kind and gentle wife and 2 kids at are pursuing God with all their heart! Thank you for setting the example. Thank you for being the love of God right in front of me. It did not go unnoticed.

As far as the current struggle you are in Beth, know the Brister family is standing with you. I know you are holding tight to the finished work of Christ for your complete restoration. I know you know who you are in Christ and that by His stripes you “are” healed!!! I know you know you are an overcomers more than a conquerer thru Christ! Stand there, and know we are standing with you! In the past 5 years I have watched God completely restore both of my parents from cancer. It is not bigger than the name of Jesus! The wind and waves still know His name.

Dave, I pray for strength for you. God has promised you victory! Just like Joshua leading the children of Israel into the promised land. God had already given them the victory but they had to go fight for it! They had to go take it!!! Like David telling the unclean giant what he was going to do with his body after he killed him!!! Stand there! Stand right there clinging to His Word!!! And He will give you the victory. We will be praying diligently and expecting a good report.

    Love, Mike and Audra Brister.

I debated over sending a letter but then found this website was available and thought that it would be easier for the family to keep track of all of the outpouring of love and memories that so many of us had for Beth. I wanted to send a few memories for the family-mostly related to how Beth impacted me as a mother and also as a godly, wise, tender-hearted woman.
I babysat for Ashley and Jonathan when they were small and then for Cole sometimes when he was born. I had many opportunities to see the kindness of the entire family-including the time that Ashley told me she would be fine to sit on the couch and paint her nails (she had to be about 5!) and I LET HER! Unsurprisingly, the polish spilt on the brand new white carpet and I was sick to my stomach the rest of the evening because I felt so terrible that I had let her do that! The kids were in bed when Dave and Beth came home and just as I told them Ashley ran out of the bedroom and pounced on her Dad as he said, “Oh, don’t worry about that. That’s what happens when you have little children.” She crashed into him as he said “children” and that was the end of that. We laughed.
Beth was KIND. She once gave me an extra $100 and told me she felt it was from the Lord and not to even thank her, she was just obeying Him.
During a season that they were fostering a little boy with special needs along with Ashley, Jonathan and Cole in the house-I remember she had a sign up in the kitchen that said, “Love is patient”. She told me that that was just enough in that season-that little reminder. As a mother now, I can totally relate!! 🙂 In fact, SO OFTEN as a Mom I will stop an think, “What would Beth Hasz do right now?” and it helps me get the right attitude and the right mindset.
I think of her post about Nicky’s letter at school about his Mom-how she was always so CHEERFUL. I didn’t even spend that much time with her but what I came away with was a deep sense of peace, love, joy, humility, wisdom.
She always loved to hear the stories or memories that I had of the kids-it was obvious that she delighted in her children and enjoyed every little thing about them. She sent me Christmas newsletters for years and years after most people would lose touch. She even sent them to me in South Africa when we lived there! It always touched my heart. Just like the way she would respond to every note, message or email that I sent to her and write simply, “Love, Beth”-someone who knew so many people-who had every reason to let my message get lost in the mail-she responded with timeliness, with godly wisdom and simple humility and love in Christ. Some of the words of wisdom she gave to me are words I will carry with me my whole life-she listened to the Spirit of God and she was wise and discerning-she gave words like Proverbs says -apples of gold in settings of silver. Words of truth and life.
For Ashley, I already sent a message but I will write it here briefly, too. I think of how you are moving into a season of being a wife and a mother-a time that she would have loved to see and enjoy with you-but in the most non-cliche way I believe she will be with you in spirit-you are both in Christ-one with Him in spirit and in Him, she can be with you in a sense-though separated by a veil. Her example and words of wisdom and guidance will come back to remembrance, I’m sure, and her prayers are following you all of your life and they will follow your children, as well. Ashley Rose-you were her rose, beloved daughter.
Jonathan-I think of a post your Mom made on Facebook where she was laughing at herself because as she described all of your amazing qualities to a group of friends one of the men said, “Surely, he IS the Christ!” I loved her ability to laugh at herself-but she was just so proud of you.
Cole, I have a cute and special memory for you. I remember you were a baby-maybe about 1 or 1 1/2 years old and I was watching you kids overnight one time-you were having a hard time falling asleep because you missed your Mom and you finally fell asleep patting me and saying, “mama” over and over. When I told her that-her heart just melted. 🙂 I always remembered it-such a special bond.
And Nicholas-I haven’t met you-but I loved seeing the posts your Mom would put up about you on Facebook! It seems that you really made her heart smile a lot-from funny things you would do and say to sweet notes you would make for her or things you would write about her at school-it seemed like the two of you had a super special bond. She posted so much about you and when I heard that she passed away I thought-you will carry that bond with you through the years and maybe God gave you a superabundance of time in that short time you had with her on this earth (so to speak).
Mr. Hasz, I respect you so incredibly much and I remember when something was coming at Teen Mania-I was far away at the time and didn’t even know but got wind there was ‘controversy’ etc.,…I don’t know what you were taking heat for but I remember Beth posted something called, “The David I know” and the whole thing was a tribute to the man that you were and are and I actually think I saved it because it was just so beautiful-her love and respect for you.
A few closing thoughts on how Beth impacted me:
She was a woman of prayer-the anointing was so heavy on her life and just like oil, when you got close to her it rubbed off on you. I heard her speak on prayer and intercession once and afterwards prayed with such a heavy anointing-my spirit was just drawn to pray-there was no mustering it up. A learning experience.
She was a woman of wisdom-she gave me some very wise and timely advice at a very important season of my life-it was counter-cultural and yet filled with practical sense as well.
She was someone you could ask tender things-I remember when our dog died and I just felt to write to her about it-do all dogs go to heaven? (lol)-but her response…so like Jesus. It was healing.
I loved her and I will miss her but I KNOW that she is gone from this earth, but still very much alive. As CS Lewis said-as Christians, we never say goodbye.
    Love you all!

  • Deborah Connor-Laird says:

    Dear Dave,
I wish I had learned something over my past two years of widowhood to make things better but only the Lord knows when and what you will need in this journey. I can tell you that God will be with you in every step and he is big enough to take your grief anger sorrow and everything else. He will hold your children in the palm of his hand and when you are unable to hold them he will send his church to hold them. When you financially don’t know what to do God will be with you and when you are broken and question what you have done are doing and even perhaps who you are as a parent or what your future holds know that God in heaven formed you in his hands. He created you as one of the best gifts this world will ever know and he will use you to make his name great not only for all those around you to see not only for your children to experience but he will make himself great in you in such a way that it will be an unshakable part of who you are. The day will come that you will awaken in the sorrow and through the tears you will have the joy in the morning that comes from knowing He is Great and he is Good in all things. You and the kids are continually on my heart and in mine and my children’s prayers.

  • Melissa Dennis says:

    Hasz Family,

Just wanted to let y’all know you are still in our thoughts and prayers. Thank you for impacting so many countless thousands by living unashamedly and passionately for Christ. I stand as one who has been forever impacted by that commitment! Although I had no idea what I was signing myself up “for” by joining the HA, God did!! I look back on that year as the path-changing year, a complete 180 degree course change. Had it not been for your leadership over the HA and the countless prayers by Beth for all of the interns and alumni, I know I personally would be a different person. Thank you, is never enough to express the gratitude in my heart for all you’ve given up to lead us into Truth!

Daniel and I are continually praying for His Grace and His Strength to carry you when you are weak, and for His Love to fill your hearts as you’re grieving the loss of an extraordinary Woman of God, wife, mother, daughter, sister, and aunt. We love y’all!
